World Wear

Kroger

The McMillen High School PTSA has partnered with the World Wear Project (WWP) to place a recycling bin near the McMillen campus. WWP recycles/reuses/resells the fabrics, and MHS PTSA receives $0.15 for every pound collected. Tell your neighbors, too. Anyone can donate to the bin.

The goals of the World Wear Project are:

  • To make gently worn clothing and shoes affordable and available to people domestically and internationally who might otherwise be unable to afford new clothing.
  • To help schools, places of worship, community centers, charities and other non-profits generate much needed funds
  • To promote global responsibility.
  • Any recycled items will be sold (because the WWP is a for profit organization, donations are not tax-deductible), but part of the proceeds from the sale of recycled items will given to the McMillen High School PTSA, and will directly benefit the students and staff of McMillen.

It is our hope that the McMillen and Murphy Middle families and the surrounding community will see the World Wear Project bin as a convenient and reliable location for recycling goods and materials that might otherwise find their way into a landfill.

Location

The bin is located at the back parking lot behind McMillen High School on the north side of the street between McMillen and Kimbrough Stadium.

Accepted items

Items that may be donated and placed in the bin include:

  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Belts
  • Purses
  • Wallets
  • Hats
  • Caps
  • Backpacks
  • Hard Toys

  • Pots and Pans

Additional Information

Remember to fill your bags only full enough that you can lift them to the chute and so they will fit in, and please don’t leave anything outside the bin. If it’s full, come back another time to donate your items. Only items that fit into the bin should be donated.
